RECAP

Area 51 survived a high-scoring shootout to edge out the Baboons 6-5 in a game where puck possession told the whole story. Despite the Baboons keeping the score close until the final buzzer, Area 51 effectively lived in the offensive zone, racking up 750 seconds of time on attack compared to just 357 for the opposition. The game was a constant back-and-forth struggle, but the turning point was the relentless pressure from Area 51’s top line, which eventually wore down the Baboons' defense and allowed Keenis VII to bury the decisive game-winning goal. Keenis VII was the undisputed engine for Area 51, putting up a massive 2 goals and 4 assists to finish with a game-high 6 points. He was supported heavily by hockeymike2344, who chipped in 2 goals and 2 assists of his own. On the other side, l Volcom x 28 l was a one-man wrecking crew for the Baboons; he found the back of the net 4 times on just 5 shots while also leading the game with 10 hits. Buckley0306 also stood out for the visitors, recording a shorthanded goal and 3 assists to keep the Baboons within striking distance despite the shot volume being heavily tilted against them. The deciding factor was Area 51’s ability to control the pace through superior puck movement and faceoff dominance. Keenis VII’s 56.5% success rate at the dot allowed his squad to start with possession, leading to 119 pass attempts and sustained pressure that forced the Baboons into a defensive shell. While the Baboons were incredibly clinical—scoring 5 goals on only 11 shots—they simply couldn't find a way to strip the puck from Area 51 long enough to mount a consistent comeback. vshotsy’s 5 takeaways on the blue line were also crucial in neutralizing the Baboons' transition game and keeping the pressure applied.
