RECAP

The Metal Can Muppets escaped with a narrow 2-1 victory over the Mighty Deks in a defensive struggle that rewarded patience and puck possession. While the Deks managed to find the back of the net on a power play strike from See dub 21, they spent a significant portion of the game defending their own zone. The Muppets’ persistence finally paid off as they leaned on their cycle game to create openings, eventually finding the go-ahead goal from defenseman rrk1989. It was a game of slim margins, but the Muppets' ability to sustain pressure in the final frame ensured the Deks couldn't find an equalizer. sc2009crosby was the primary catalyst for the Muppets' offense, recording 1 goal and 1 assist to factor into every bit of his team’s scoring. In the crease, SpitCan6064 provided the necessary stability, stopping 11 of 12 shots for a .917 save percentage to outduel Bcrippsx31. For the Mighty Deks, Chandler4911 was a force in the faceoff circle, winning a dominant 17 of 23 draws (74%), while IAALLDAY520 was a bright spot on the blue line, recording 6 takeaways to disrupt the Muppets' transition game throughout the night. The deciding factor was the Muppets' superior puck management and territorial control. They dominated the time on attack with 9:33 compared to the Deks' 7:46, effectively forcing the Deks to play a reactive style of hockey. Despite the Deks' dominance at the dot, they were plagued by 24 combined turnovers from their top two forwards, which stunted their ability to generate high-quality looks. While the Deks were clinical on their lone power play opportunity, the Muppets' edge in shots (16-12) and overall possession time proved to be the winning formula.
