RECAP

In a tightly contested defensive battle that came down to the wire, the Mighty Deks edged out the Metal Can Muppets with a 2-1 victory. The game was an absolute grind, characterized by cautious neutral zone play and limited high-danger chances, as evidenced by the near-identical shot totals of 10 for the Deks and 11 for the Muppets. While the Muppets held a slight edge in time on attack (508 to 490 seconds), they struggled to find a way past a disciplined Deks defensive shell that prioritized shot blocking and positioning over high-risk plays. The offensive output for the Mighty Deks was concentrated in their top six, with Chandler4911 and xDemon12x both recording 1 goal and 1 assist to account for all of their team's scoring. xDemon12x played a particularly heavy game, leading all players with 7 hits and eventually netting the game-winner. Between the pipes, Bcrippsx31 was the difference-maker, turning aside 10 of 11 shots for a .909 save percentage and frustrating the Muppets' shooters for the duration of the contest. For the Muppets, Zuuuuuub provided the lone tally, while Derekgnr put on a defensive clinic with 10 takeaways to keep his team within striking distance until the final horn. The most glaring statistical divide—and arguably the deciding factor in the game—was the faceoff circle. Chandler4911 was dominant at the dot, winning 10 of 11 draws (90.9%), which allowed the Mighty Deks to dictate the pace of play immediately following whistles. This advantage neutralized Magilla72, who struggled to gain possession for the Muppets' set plays. Despite a very clean game from both sides with 0 total penalty minutes, the Muppets simply couldn't convert their possession time into enough quality looks to overcome the Deks' efficiency and superior performance at center ice.
