RECAP

Half Shell Cartel walked away with a gritty 4-3 overtime victory in a contest that was defined by a massive disparity in puck control. Despite Chaos holding the edge in shots (21-17), the Cartel spent nearly double the time in the offensive zone, logging a staggering 930 seconds of time on attack compared to just 485 for Chaos. The game remained a back-and-forth affair until mashotpa buried the game-winner in the extra frame, finally rewarding a Cartel side that had been knocking on the door all night. The star of the show was undoubtedly mashotpa, who had a hand in every single goal for the Half Shell Cartel. Recording 2 goals and 2 assists, his performance was capped off by the overtime heroics, but his work in the faceoff circle was just as vital, winning 19 of 27 draws (70%) to keep his team in possession. Chaos stayed in the hunt thanks to a balanced effort from their back end, led by defenseman GingertronXX, who put up a goal and an assist while leading his team with 6 takeaways. Between the pipes, CN65 provided the necessary stability for the Cartel, making 18 saves to finish with a .857 save percentage and outlasting WeThePeople1829 in the opposite crease. The deciding factor in this one was the battle for the middle of the ice. Half Shell Cartel’s dominance in the faceoff circle allowed them to dictate the pace, leading to 168 pass attempts as they methodically worked the puck around the Chaos zone. While Chaos was efficient when they had their chances—evidenced by outshooting the Cartel despite much lower possession—they simply couldn't get the puck away from mashotpa and Duchesne_x_10 long enough to sustain pressure. In the end, the Cartel's ability to keep the puck on their sticks eventually wore down the Chaos defense, leading to the clinical finish in overtime.
