RECAP

In a game where puck possession and shot volume didn’t tell the whole story, Team8s managed to escape with a 4-3 overtime victory against the Lot Lizards. Despite the Lizards controlling the pace for long stretches and maintaining a massive time-on-attack advantage of 918 to 629, they couldn't put the game away in regulation. The narrative was defined by the Lizards' inability to convert their 23 shots into a win, ultimately allowing Team8s to find the back of the net in the extra frame. The game shifted constantly between the Lizards’ sustained offensive pressure and the clinical counter-attacking style of Team8s, who made every opportunity count. The offensive engine for Team8s was Sejje, who put on a playmaking clinic with 1 goal and 3 assists, factoring into every single goal his team scored. He found a perfect partner in Jellyl35l, who notched 2 goals, including the decisive game-winner in overtime. On the other side, Bills 39 did his best to keep the Lizards in front with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Hergy9 was a force in the middle, winning 18 of 27 faceoffs to give his team consistent possession. In net, CN65 was the unsung hero for Team8s, turning aside 20 of 23 shots for a .870 save percentage and keeping his team alive during a heavy Lizards barrage. The deciding factor in this contest was pure efficiency versus volume. Team8s displayed incredible finishing, scoring 4 times on only 17 shots, while the Lizards struggled to find the same quality despite their 23 attempts. While Hergy9 dominated the dot with a 66.7% faceoff win rate, the Lizards' 23 giveaways by Chandler4911 and 27 by Jellyl35l on the winning side showed how loose the puck was at times. Ultimately, the defensive resilience of IAALLDAY520, who recorded 8 takeaways and 4 blocked shots, allowed Team8s to weather the Lizards' 15 minutes of possession and steal the win in the extra period.
