RECAP

In a back-and-forth battle that required extra time to settle, Good try walked away with a 4-3 overtime victory over Supremacy. Despite Supremacy controlling the pace for much of the game with 574 seconds of time on attack compared to 534 for the home side, Good try proved to be more clinical when it mattered most. The game saw Supremacy claw back using a lethal power play, but they were never quite able to pull ahead. The tension peaked in the overtime period where Cube eventually found the back of the net to seal the win and end a high-stakes divisional matchup. The story of the game was the dominance of Good try’s top line, specifically Cube, who factored into every single goal his team scored. Cube finished the night with 2 goals and 2 assists, including the game-winner, while maintaining a +3 rating. He was flanked by Perellzy, who provided the secondary punch with 2 goals of his own. On the other side, yRykerr did everything he could to keep Supremacy in the hunt, recording 2 goals and 1 assist. Both of yRykerr’s goals came on the power play, highlighting his ability to capitalize on the man advantage, even as his team struggled to contain Good try’s rush at even strength. The deciding factor in this contest was the contrast between special teams and even-strength efficiency. Supremacy’s power play was perfect, going 2 for 2, which accounted for the majority of their offense. However, Good try dominated the 5-on-5 play, with their primary skaters all finishing at +3. Discipline was a major issue for Good try, as they surrendered 8 penalty minutes, but gunnr miggs held firm in net when the pressure was highest, making 17 saves on 20 shots. Ultimately, Good try’s ability to win 54% of the draws—led by Licks-_-97’s 13 faceoff wins—gave them the slight edge in puck luck and possession needed to end it in overtime.
