SERIES RECAP

The Harfangs took the series 2-1 in a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire in a decisive Game 3. The narrative was established early in Game 1, when the Harfangs managed a 3-2 overtime victory despite being outshot 21-12. Area 51 found their stride in Game 2, putting on a possession clinic with a 5-2 win to force the series limit, but they couldn't solve the Harfangs' defensive shell in the finale. The series ended in a narrow 2-1 Harfangs victory where they were once again out-possessed but proved to be the more clinical finishing team. The Harfangs were led by the offensive duo of xbrindy and Duchesne_x_10, who both finished the series with 7 points. xbrindy was a massive physical presence, racking up 41 hits alongside his 2 goals and 5 assists, while Duchesne_x_10 provided 3 goals and 31 hits of his own. Between the pipes, Philliesgreat08 was the series MVP, recording 51 total saves and posting a massive .941 save percentage in the Game 3 clincher. Area 51 saw a dominant performance from tugeye92, who accounted for 6 of the team's 8 total goals, and vshotsy, who acted as the primary facilitator with 5 assists from the blue line. Ultimately, this series was decided by the disparity between possession and conversion. Area 51 dominated the puck for 2004 seconds of Time on Attack compared to 1391 for the Harfangs, and they outshot their opponents 55-42 across the 3 games. However, the Harfangs leaned into a heavy physical style and relied on Philliesgreat08 to weather the storm. While Area 51 controlled the flow through Dirbykach13 and their active defensemen, the Harfangs' ability to capitalize on limited high-danger chances and their superior goaltending allowed them to steal the series despite losing the statistical battle in almost every other category.
