RECAP

The Baboons walked away with a convincing 6-2 victory over The Brand in a game that served as a masterclass in clinical finishing versus empty possession. Despite The Brand controlling the flow for long stretches and racking up a massive 526 seconds of time on attack compared to just 362 for the Baboons, they simply couldn't find lanes to the net. The turning point came in the transition game, where the Baboons turned defensive stops into immediate high-danger chances. While The Brand spent their time cycling the perimeter, the Baboons were direct and punishing, outshooting their opponents 25-12 and effectively putting the game out of reach by the midway point. The story of the night was the historic individual performance by l Volcom x 28 l. The Baboons’ winger was unstoppable, netting 5 of his team’s 6 goals on just 8 shots. He showed an elite ability to find soft spots in the coverage, supported heavily by the playmaking of Buckley0306, who dominated the dot with a 57.9% faceoff win rate and tallied 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists). On the other side of the ice, Animal x86 provided the grit and secondary distribution, recording 3 assists and a game-high 11 hits. The Brand saw flashes of life from Loxies and Gucci Goals, who each managed a goal and an assist, but they were often left stranded in the offensive zone without support. Ultimately, the game was decided by efficiency and puck security. The Brand struggled significantly with the Baboons' aggressive forecheck, evidenced by Loxies coughup up 20 turnovers. This lack of composure prevented The Brand from converting their possession advantage into actual scoring opportunities. The Baboons also excelled on the defensive end, with Animal x86 and Therealestbean combining for 11 takeaways to disrupt the cycle. Between the pipes, Gratefulvenom remained steady for the Baboons with 10 saves, while RedSkinStallion was left exposed too often, facing over double the shot volume of his counterpart.
