RECAP

The Flamingos put on a clinical performance in a 3-0 shutout victory over the Mighty Deks, dictated largely by a suffocating offensive cycle. From the opening draw, the Flamingos established a territorial advantage that the Deks simply couldn't break, resulting in nearly double the time on attack (747 to 378). The narrative of this game was one of relentless pressure; while the Deks managed to keep it a contest through the first two periods, the Flamingos' ability to sustain zone time eventually wore down the opposition’s structure, leading to a power play breakthrough and a comfortable three-goal cushion. The offensive engine for the Flamingos was fueled by the duo of Dirbykach13 and JNoQuarterJ, who both finished with 3 points. Dirbykach13 was a force in the middle, netting 2 goals—including a power play marker—while recording 4 deflections to keep the Deks' defense scrambling. On the wings, JNoQuarterJ provided the game-winning goal and 2 primary assists, consistently finding lanes through the Deks' defensive shell. On the back end, Philliesgreat08 was perfect in net, turning aside all 12 shots faced to secure the shutout, while Undeezy provided a steady presence with 2 assists and a team-high 33 successful passes. The deciding factor in this matchup was the overwhelming disparity in puck possession, driven by dominance in the faceoff circle. Dirbykach13 controlled the dots with a 79% win rate (19 wins to 5 losses), ensuring the Flamingos started almost every sequence with the puck. This possession advantage allowed them to outshoot the Deks 21-12 and limit their high-danger looks. While the Mighty Deks' defense showed flashes of resilience—highlighted by IAALLDAY520’s 7 takeaways—they were ultimately spent from defending for over 12 minutes of game time, leaving their offense with no fuel left to test the Flamingos' steady defensive pairing.
