RECAP

In a high-stakes overtime thriller, the Metal Can Muppets secured a gritty 5-4 victory over the Mighty Deks. Despite the Mighty Deks controlling the pace for the majority of the evening with a massive 678 seconds of time on attack compared to just 439 for the Muppets, they couldn't close the door in regulation. The game was a constant back-and-forth affair, with the Deks utilizing a heavy possession game to keep the Muppets on their heels. However, the Muppets proved to be the more opportunistic squad, weathering the storm and eventually finding the winner in the extra frame to walk away with the points. The story of the night was the individual brilliance of xDemon12x, who put the Metal Can Muppets on his back with a staggering 5-point performance. Not only did he record a hat trick, including the decisive game-winning goal, but he also factored in on every single Muppets goal while leading the game with 11 hits. He was supported by sc2009crosby, who notched 2 goals of his own and won 11 of 20 faceoffs to provide crucial stability in the middle. On the other side, the Mighty Deks saw an offensive explosion from hockeymike2344, who netted a hat trick, and mashotpa, who orchestrated the offense with 1 goal and 3 assists. Ultimately, this game came down to finishing efficiency versus puck possession. While the Mighty Deks led in shots 17-13 and dominated the possession metrics, they struggled to solve Philliesgreat08 at critical moments, who finished with 13 saves. The Muppets’ ability to convert on limited opportunities was the deciding factor, as they scored 5 goals on just 13 shots. Additionally, the Muppets' physical edge—highlighted by a more aggressive defensive posture—seemed to disrupt the Deks' flow just enough to compensate for the significant disadvantage in time on attack.
