RECAP

Supremacy took a hard-fought 4-2 victory over the Metal Can Muppets in a contest that was far closer than the final score suggests. While the Muppets actually controlled the pace for long stretches, leading in time on attack with 517 seconds to Supremacy’s 502, they struggled to convert that pressure into high-quality finishes. The game remained a tight defensive struggle until the closing stages, with the turning point coming down to Supremacy's ability to capitalize on transition opportunities and a massive penalty shot save by swatman27 that kept the Muppets from swinging the momentum. The offensive load for Supremacy was carried by the duo of hockeymike2344 and yRykerr. hockeymike2344 was the catalyst in the middle, netting 2 goals and adding 1 assist, including the game-winning goal that finally broke the Muppets' resolve. On the wing, yRykerr was equally clinical, scoring 2 goals on just 5 shots. Between the pipes, swatman27 stood tall under pressure, stopping 10 of 12 shots for an .833 save percentage and coming up with a clutch save on the only penalty shot of the game. The Muppets saw strong production from yung96 and Binzet37, who each recorded a goal and an assist, but their efforts were overshadowed by a lack of finish from the rest of the lineup. The deciding factor in this matchup was efficiency versus volume. Despite the Muppets holding the edge in possession and playing a disciplined game with 0 penalty minutes, they were plagued by 23 turnovers from yung96, which consistently killed their offensive flow. Supremacy, on the other hand, survived 6 minutes of penalty time and a lower faceoff win percentage by being more surgical with their looks. While shots were nearly even at 14-13, Supremacy’s top line found the back of the net twice as often, proving that quality of possession often outweighs the quantity of time spent in the zone.
